Tea, a beverage with roots dating back centuries, holds a diverse and intricate history that extends far beyond its origins. I have delved into the often-untold truth of the role that Black communities played in shaping and evolving the tea industry. From cultivation to consumption, there were significant contributions made by individuals of African descent throughout history.
Â
I have had the privilege to learn about some of the rich tapestry and history of tea of the African Diaspora. I explored my ancestral resilient contributions, the cultural influences of African American individuals throughout the centuries, and the contemporary perspectives into a diverse and essential chapter of the world of tea that deserve recognition and celebration.
Â
I believe that this untold chapter of tea history aligns perfectly with The Tea Experience's commitment to providing an inclusive journey through the world of tea. I have a story of love and entrepreneurship that began with a heartfelt legacy passed down from my late father, a man whose love for tea knew no bounds.Â
Â
I am honored to have transformed my Dad’s love of tea into a thriving tea business--one that carries forward a treasured family tradition.
In honor of Black History Month and to honor my father's memory and his unwavering devotion to tea, I now own a business that sells tea, educates the community about the healthful benefits of drinking tea, and helping folks to enjoy the simple pleasure and experience of tea!
