On April 22nd, we honor what would have been my Dad’s 100th birthday — a beautiful milestone for a man whose love, wisdom, and quiet strength continue to shape my life every single day.
Long before The Tea Experience became what it is today, tea was already part of my story because it was part of his. During one of the most tender seasons of my life, while caring for my Dad during his illness, we shared many heartfelt conversations about family, legacy, and the importance of being happy in life. Those moments changed me. They also helped me realize that tea was more than a beverage in our home — it was connection, comfort, and tradition. It was in those conversations that I began to understand my family’s deeper roots in tea culture and felt inspired to turn a long-held dream into something meaningful.
After my Dad passed in 2006, I made the life-changing decision to leave my healthcare career and pursue entrepreneurship. With his memory guiding me, Lola’s Tea House opened in 2007, and that journey later evolved into The Tea Experience — a space where I could share loose-leaf teas, community, and the simple ritual that meant so much to my family.
In honor of Dad’s 100th birthday, I curated Lester Allicks’ 100th Birthday Blend — a loving tribute steeped in memory and celebration. This special blend features Organic Kenyan Black tea with apple, mango, and cinnamon — bold, warm, vibrant, and full of character, just like the legacy he left behind.
Dad often inspired me to appreciate life’s simple blessings, and this tea is my way of saying thank you. Thank you for the love. Thank you for the example. Thank you for the conversations that planted the seeds for this beautiful business.
To our CommuniTEA, thank you for allowing me to share a piece of my heart and my family with you. As we celebrate Dad’s heavenly 100th birthday, I invite you to raise your cup with me in his honor.
Sip, savor, slow down. Curated teas for your daily ritual.
And always, Enjoy the Simple Pleasure (and experience) of Tea.
